I moved from Los Angeles to Greenville almost five years ago to buy 5 Supercuts hair salons after MGM Studios (where I worked as head of the Entertainment Legal Department) was sold to Sony Pictures. I rented a house for 6 months, planning to be here temporarily. It took only two months for me to discover the joys of Greenville life! No traffic, free valet - hours were added each day to my life. And the real estate values are unbelievable - beautiful homes and country, add to that terrific restaurants, great theatre, fabulous art and the coup de grace - the people! Come on down…..
A group of sisters travelled to your fabulous city in June to visit our sister who had just moved there. What a fantastic trip! From the moment we arrived you could just feel the Southern charm! We spent a considerable amount of time downtown…shopping (found an amazing pair of boots!)…dining (THE best cobb salad I’ve ever tasted!)…and exploring…discovering one thing after another! It was just lovely…and I’m really looking forward to visiting again soon! Love the website…well done!
As a Chef, Foodie, Wine snob and just as a dad, Greenville is the place to be… while close to Charlotte, Atlanta, Charleston… there is no reason to leave downtown!
With great restaurants (Larkin’s, Devereauxs and more), great festivals (Fall for Greenville, Artisphere, Rhythm on the River), and the incredible school system, social atmosphere and real estate market… this is the place to raise a family, develop a business and settle down!
My wife and I wanted to relocate to the Southeast from the North. We conducted an extensive search to find a downtown with what we were looking for: an urban attitude but with distinct local flavor. Once we visited Greenville and experienced the energy from a mixed-use environment we knew we had found what we were looking for. Moving here was one of the best decisions we ever made.
After searching for a year through the country with my husband, we bought property outside of Greenville. The Downtown area was a big factor in our choice. Wonderful restaurants, museums, theatre, walking paths, WIFI, baseball, art studios… it really is an amazing place. Rich in pride and history we always look forward to spending time there when not in the mountains just north of the city. The Southern folk are open to outsiders too
We were fortunate to spend the weekend in Greenville for the US Pro Championships. We travelled with a group of 30+ Canadians that were members of a bike group called Les Domestiques. What a beautiful city and amazing hospitality.
We enjoyed it so much that I am going back next week to ride for the weekend! We also look forward to attending the US Pro Championship in September 2010.
Thanks for showing us a great time, you have a wonderful city.
As a member of Les Domestiques - the Canadian Cycling club that came down for the US National Pro Championships in August, I can tell you that Greenville made an amazing impression on 33 Canadians. Beautiful city, wonderful hosts, fantastic cycling(!) and a spectacular weekend all around.
Thanks to Kym Petrie in particular for arranging so much more than we could have imagined to get a taste of Southern Hospitality.
We love Greenville because it has so much to offer! Varied terrain (mountains and rivers galore) and even more varied population give Greenville an almost European feel.
As two current Brooklynites we’re used to having variety, and Greenville wants for nothing. (except maybe a public transportation system!)

Greenville has a little something for everyone – edgy downtown lofts and tree lined neighborhoods; walks in the park and bike rides up the mountain; local musicians in the amphitheater and the symphony in the concert hall; fine local artists in the studio and fine art in the museum; children’s theater and Broadway productions; movies under the stars and mega stars in the auditorium; afternoon picnics by the river and evenings of elegant eclectic dining – I love it all, but most of all, I love to call Greenville home!
I love Downtown Greenville for it’s variety of people, it’s beautiful Main St. covered with trees, it’s wide variety of restaurants, shopping, night life, parks, and of course the energy that all of this brings. But most of all, I love Downtown Greenville for it’s charm. Nowhere else in the U.S. will you find a city like Greenville SC that has this high standard quality of life! Thank you Greenville!
I love Greenville because there are always so many wonderful, exciting things to do! One evening there might be a band playing beach music behind Larkin’s, a Drive baseball game going on in Fluor Stadium and a Shakespeare play being performed in the park on Reedy River – all on the same night. So much to do, so much to see, so much fun to be had by everyone — I love Greenville!
The blog and website look great! My time in Greenville was fantastic and I’m so proud to have been associated (even in a small way) with this project and the wonderful people behind it!
