What is the Downtown Greenville Development Initiative?
Since the late 1970s Greenville has experienced such a profound period of revitalization, people who haven’t visited in the last 10 years can barely recognize the new face of Downtown. Those efforts were rewarded in 2003 when Greenville received the Great American Main Street Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. But we didn’t stop there.
The Downtown Greenville Development Initiative (DGDI), a public/private partnership between the City of Greenville, Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Owners Group, has continued to focus on economic development within the downtown core.
Always a proactive, entrepreneurial community, this partnership launched the initiative in July of 2008 to attract additional office tenants (of all sizes) to relocate or expand into the vibrant, bustling downtown area.
